School Council

Here at Tredworth Infant and Nursery Academy, we believe that it is important to value children's thoughts, ideas and opinions. Each term two school council representatives are elected  from each KS1 class to attend weekly meetings with Miss Thomas. As a school we feel it is important that pupils can voice their opinions and have their views taken into account in decisions which may impact upon them.

To date, we have:

  • helped raise awareness of recycling by creating an 'Echo Squad' and hosting school assemblies.
  • worked closely with the school's catering team designing a menu to ensure pupils have a healthy and balanced diet
  • made a dinner hall drop box for pupils to post food suggestions and comments through
  • helped organise key events such as Children in Need days, Comc Relief days, Easter Bonnet Parades and school discos
  • counted up house points at the end of each term and suggested winning house point treats
  • given important visitors a tour around the school
  • voted on names for the dining hall (The Hungry Hut) and the nurturing room (The Tree House)
  • ran class votes to decide on pupils who have gone the extra mile to schow the school key values. the winning pupils attend a special lunch with Mrs Driver on the Top Table

Our school councillor's love attending meetings and are always keen to share ideas. Our School Council provides children with young leadership and development opportunities. We are proud of our school council and 'together we can make a difference'.
