Hippo | Year 2 |
At Tredworth Infant and Nursery Academy we believe that it is important for each individual child to learn at their own pace according to their attainment and our curriculum has been carefully constructed to incorporate clear small steps to enable children to aquire and build upon the skills and knowledge needed in order to progress.
Our curriculum is theme-based and aims to promote and enrich the spiritual, moral, cultural, social, emotional and physical development of all pupils. Curriculum areas are planned as a whole school, overseen by the subject leader, and well-resourced to enable children to experience success as learners. The curriculum provides opportunities for connections to be made between different areas of learning and is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that we are in line with current developments and initiatives as well as being broad and balanced and representative of the local community. A range of teaching and learning styles and strategies are used to ensure the needs of all children are met.
There is no limit placed on the expectations of what children achieve. It is our aim that through positive encouragement and praise, all children have the opportunity to gain the confidence and equip themselves with the skills and knowledge to become successful learners.
The Key Stage One curriculum begins when children start Year One and is completed at the end of Year Two.
As the children move from EYFS into Year One we endeavour to make this transition as smooth as possible. We consolidate and build upon the experiences that the children have had in EYFS and ensure that provision is in place to meet their individual needs so that they can access the Key Stage One curriculum when they are ready.
As Year Two is the final year in the school all children are given responsibilities and opportunities in their learning that help them to become more independent, confident learners who are ready to move on their respective Junior Schools. We work alongside the Junior Schools to ensure that the transition is positive and familiar for all of our children.
