Key Stage One


October 2016

Topics for Key Stage one this term have already included; The Great Fire of London and Remembrance Day. The children made their own version of London, uisng cardboard houses, and then set it on fire just like the real thing!! They have held a minutes silence and learnt all about Rememberance Day, making and painting poppies. Earlier this term we also had a Halloween Disco where all the staff were amazed at the incredible outfits !!

June and July 2016

It has been an action packed last term at school. Since the Queens Birthday Celebrations we have taken part in Tennis Competitions, Maths Mornings, Mindfulness days with Relaxation and Yoga sessions: our school trip to the Zoo; Sports Day and end of year Assemblys ! We still have a circus skills day, a den building day and our Leavers Assembly to fit in, thank goodness its almost the Summer holidays !

April 2016

What a varied curriculum the children have experienced this term.  Our Science day included visits from lots of different animals including a parrot and a dog and making  a range of bird feeders! Pirates have been popping up all over the school, leaving clues, maps and muddy footprints everywhere! Children have been making pirate maps and maps of the school, as well as learning all aboput circuits and electricity! They will need a half term break to recover !!

Term 4 - March 2016

The year 1 and year 2 classes have been working hard this term! As well as some very exciting Literacy, Numeracy and Science lessons and a trip to the Victorian Museum, World Book Day and Sports Relief, we have witnessed the Coronation of Queen Victoria. The children made all the decorations for the hall and their own crowns to wear to the Coronation and street party. Easter activities are now in progress with children making cards and bonnets for our competition. We have had Easter Assemblies and talked about the Easter story. The year 1 children even had a surprise visit from the Fire Engine.

Term 3 - January 2016

Key Stage one have had an exciting start to the term, with topics including Materials, Recycling and the Victorians. They have already been on a trip to Gloucester Folk Museum to experience a Victorian school day. They have made models bu recycling plastic and looked at the differences between living and non living things. Balanceability has started with Mr Scantlebury. This build on the skills learnt in Reception.

Term 2 and Christmas 2015

Key stage one have had an action packed term with visits to The Mosque and Gloucester Cathedral, practising their Christmas songs and carols for visits to the City Farm and St Pauls Residential Centre and their wonderful Christmas performance. parents and the residents of St Pauls were so happy to hear the children sing. Our Christmas Fayre also took place this week and we raised £560 for future trips for the school. Christmas dinner was a very festive event with staff serving the children and a Christmas Sing a Long.

Term 1 2015

Children have been busy with their topic 'Marvellous Me' this term. This has included self portraits, looking at humans and other animals, including pets and being a vet!
